We are a rapidly growing plastic surgery practice and accredited ambulatory surgery center (ASC) seeking a Practice Director/Director of Operations to lead and optimize all clinical and non-clinical operations. This role is responsible for implementing systems, driving efficiency, managing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving both the patient experience and business performance.
The ideal candidate is a strategic operator with proven experience in surgical healthcare settings who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all daily operations of the plastic surgery clinic and ASC, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Build, implement, and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across departments.
- Drive efficiency in scheduling, patient flow, inventory management, billing, and vendor coordination.
- Lead operational readiness for expansion, renovations, or new service lines.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, manage, and develop staff across front office, clinical support, surgical, and administrative roles.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures.
- Build a high-performance culture rooted in operational excellence and customer care.
- Work closely with the HR department to ensure compliance.
Financial Performance and KPIs
- Monitor key operational and financial metrics including throughput, utilization, margins, and productivity.
- Collaborate with the finance team to manage budgets, reduce overhead, and maximize profitability.
- Analyze trends and performance reports to make data-driven decisions.
- Order supplies and disposables at the lowest price possible.
- Evaluate vendor contracts quarterly.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure ongoing compliance with AAAHC accreditation, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety and quality assurance.
Strategic Execution
- Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to translate company vision into actionable operational plans.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks; continuously improve processes to support scalable growth.
Scalability
- Prepare the business to grow through increased case volume, staffing, and service lines.
- Reduce time between consult and surgery.
- Improve OR turnover time and reduce cancellations.
- Increase ASC utilization through block time strategy and capacity forecasting.
- Optimize staffing ratios without overburdening the team.
- Prepare for expansion into new locations, onboarding of additional surgeons, or new service offerings.
Process Optimization
- Streamline patient flow, reduce idle time, and optimize the supply chain and vendor relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in healthcare operations management; experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, or ASC settings strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, EMR systems, surgical scheduling, and healthcare compliance.
- Proven leadership and team development experience.
- Highly organized, metrics-driven, and action-oriented.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
