Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Aesthetic Treatments and Clinical Care

  • Perform aesthetic procedures within the RN's authorized scope of practice, demonstrated competency, and applicable California law.
  • Administer injectable treatments, including neuromodulators and dermal fillers, only when legally authorized, appropriately trained, and acting under the required medical direction and orders.
  • Provide other approved aesthetic services, such as skin rejuvenation, microneedling, and energy-based treatments, when properly trained and authorized.
  • Conduct nursing assessments and obtain relevant medical history, medication information, allergies, and contraindications.
  • Verify appropriate medical evaluation, treatment orders, and informed consent before performing procedures when required.
  • Educate patients on treatment expectations, risks, benefits, alternatives, pre-treatment instructions, and post-treatment care.
  • Recognize complications, adverse reactions, and contraindications; initiate appropriate emergency protocols and promptly notify the responsible medical provider.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

2. Patient Experience and Relationship Management

  • Establish rapport with patients and provide attentive, compassionate, and professional care.
  • Assess patient goals and communicate realistic treatment expectations.
  • Recommend appropriate services within established clinical protocols and the patient's individualized treatment plan.
  • Conduct follow-up communications as directed by practice policy and document patient outcomes and concerns.
  • Encourage appropriate follow-up appointments and ongoing care without pressuring patients into unnecessary treatments.
  • Address patient questions and concerns promptly and professionally.

3. Documentation and Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records, including assessments, treatment details, products administered, lot numbers when applicable, consent forms, and follow-up documentation.
  • Comply with HIPAA, California privacy requirements, infection prevention standards, and workplace safety policies.
  • Follow established protocols for medication storage, handling, administration, and documentation.
  • Maintain current California RN licensure, required certifications, and competency records.

  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, quality improvement activities, and required training.

4. Business Development and Retail Sales

  • Educate patients about appropriate aesthetic services, treatment packages, memberships, and skincare products.
  • Promote approved medical-grade skincare products, including SkinCeuticals or other practice-selected brands.
  • Support patient retention through treatment planning, follow-up, and relationship building.
  • Meet established performance goals for patient satisfaction, retention, retail education, and service utilization, as applicable.
  • Maintain a professional, ethical approach to recommendations, ensuring patient welfare and clinical appropriateness take priority over sales goals.
  • Assist with promotional events, patient education activities, and marketing initiatives when requested.

5. Equipment, Supplies, and Infection Prevention

  • Follow infection prevention procedures, including hand hygiene, cleaning, disinfection, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
